St. Piran larches

What a treat!  Heady and I got to have an adult dinner and an adults only hike up Mount St. Piran for our anniversary.  It was great to have that elusive freedom for a day or so.  We really owe Thessie!

Lake Louise in the morning sun.  Ran into Al who was shooting a wedding at the Chateau - despite our best efforts he couldn't join us for the hike.  Looked like a crazy wedding though...

On the way up through the larches - we had passed the tea house and the crowds at this point.

Breaking into the alpine.

After some really efficient switchbacks we found ourselves on top with relatively little effort.

Uber cheese.

Despite the snow, the temps were in the mid 20s!  Summer perhaps?

Some great views across the bow valley.
            Unreal scenery!

Definitely the peak of the larches.

Q being Q.

Just some shots from around our place a few weeks ago.

West Winds Pass

Grant and Heather were in town for the weekend so we thought, despite the late summer rockies temperatures (i.e. snow), we'd see if their soft Vancouver skin could hack West Wind Pass.

Nali and Q were both troopers.  Really, why are we always surprised about snow in September?

A rare family shot.

Absolutely no fear.

Just following orders - "Daddy, jump.  Go down."

You get some great views for such a short hike.

Q doesn't really know what to make of babies but we'll keep trying.

According to Thessie, if a kid looks at you through their legs, you're going to get pregnant.  Triplets?

No really captivated by smaller kids, but rocks are the bomb.

Big smiles.

Loving the touque.

Alpine Therapy

After what seemed like an eternity, we made it back to the alpine but had to cheat a bit and take the bus up sunshine.

Big smiles and long naps make for a good day.

Man, I miss this place.

Still snoozing.  Q misses have the vistas when we're out.

She didn't even think about the exam the whole time.

Q's attention turned to watching/chasing ground squirrels.

Family self portrait.

Nap done, on the move.

There's just a bit of illegal activity here.  Walking off the path and eating the flowers could land him a record.

Meadow frolicking!

For some reason, me standing on a rock was absolutely hilarious!  He had tears (the good kind) streaming down his face.

Kicking around in August

August was a pretty crazy month and Heady and I felt like we were passing each other in the night.  Got a little time to hang out and have a some fun with Q though.

Birthday kisses for mom.

Future Glen Plake - let's hope not!

More raw corn. What gives?

Puddles and buds.  Life is so simple sometimes.

Kinda like Abby Road, but wetter.

Just general silliness.

Deb was a lifesaver and came out to take care of Q while Heady and I dealt with the insanity of residency x 2.  Thanks a million!
