We were able to get away on this beautiful Saturday to avoid most of the snow. Heather got some great pictures as the light was perfect on top.

Who knew Spray Lakes could look so good.

She made me pose for this one.. I'm not pondering life, just thinking about skiing!

Honeymoon - Part 1

Welcome to paradise! After the wedding we flew down to Nicaragua and had an unforgetable time at Morgan's Rock Lodge. This place was everything we could dream of - socially and environmentally conscious, luxurious, and so relaxing. The food we ate was grown on the 2000 hectare preserve surrounding the lodge, all the employes were local villages working on their english, rain water showers and grey water recycling for the crops, solar power, rain water pool, the list goes on. Needless to say, we had a spectacular time. The resort was nestled in a private bay with as little impact on the forest as possible. You can see the main lodge in the upper right corner of the picture.

We were two of 8 people staying at the resort. We had our own private cabin with courtyard and porch. Check out the swing bed on the deck!!

Fresh, locally grown coffee was delivered to our cabin every morning. We were definitely spoiled.

The cabins were all built from native and recycled materials. The woods were absolutely beautiful. The cabins were open air and 2 or 4 walls were screen. We woke up to the sound of the ocean every morning and could hear howler monkeys all night (pretty strange sound if you've never heard it before, kinda haunting.)

To get to the cabins, you had to cross a suspension bridge through the canopy. We saw a whole troop of howler monkeys in the forest around the bridge.

A common sight, Heady with a glass of fresh fruit juice. I think she drank about 3 L of pineapple, passion fruit and dragon fruit juice a day. They even sent us home with some!

It was like we had the whole place to ourselves.

Honeymoon - Part 2

We also had the chance to do a little exploring around the resort and a trip to Grenada and Lake Nicaragua. This is the coast line just past the beach. Apparantly the surf is great along the coast.

This was taken on a hike in the rainforest just south of Lake Nicaragua. It was a little rainy (as expected) and had that fantastic damp forest smell (some might call it organic...)
